Meet Lucy! She’s a 3 year old black and tan bloodhound who came to use from a rural shelter in the north. She was surrendered to them because, just like most people, she loves the taste of chicken. She really took those Chick-fil-a cows seriously.

Lucy is considered a laid back and friendly dog. She gets along well with children and adults (she likes to lay with or on her humans), and does great with other dogs. She has not been tested with cats.

Lucy is potty trained, and has good recall (for a bloodhound). She will come back when her foster whistles. Lucy is not being crated at his foster housed and we don’t know if she was crated previously. Like all bloodhounds, she is bound by her nose and if you leave food on the counter she will take it.

She’s been using a “Gentle Leader” leash on her walks and has been doing well. She’s learning not to pull, but cars and critters still excite her.

More great news about Lucy is that she’s not food aggressive and she doesn’t resource guard. She’s fed in the kitchen with 3 other dogs and does fine.

Lucy’s ideal home would be chicken free. We can’t be 100% on cats, but her prey drive for chickens and critters gives us the impression that a kitty-free home may be best. Lucy enjoys the company of other dogs but could likely be okay as an only-dog. What she needs is a family who loves her as much as she loves them. Her foster family confidently called her “One of the best fosters we’ve ever had.” And if that’s not a glowing review, what is?
