This is George. He’s a senior basset/lab mix, also referred to as a Bassador. We were told he’s 8, making him a distinguished gentleman. He came to us by way of a county shelter where he was surrendered by his owner. We couldn’t let him spend his golden years locked up, or worse, so we made a commitment to find him the best new life.

So far, we know that George gets along well with dogs, people, and he’s indifferent when it comes to cats. He is best described as a caregiver when it comes to other animals. He cleans them and follows them around, watching and observing, always available.

As time passes he’s decompressing in his foster home and enjoying the creature comforts of a warm bed, a cozy blanket, and the companionship of humans. He’s a gentle and sweet boy who makes sure to follow his foster mom wherever she goes. He’s a lovely shadow.

George loves a car ride and walks nicely on a leash. Like all hounds, he enjoys a good sniff. He’s potty trained but hasn’t been tested with a crate. He doesn’t appear to be destructive.

George is neutered, up to date on vaccines and recently had dental work. He is heartworm positive, but this is not a death sentence and he’s being treated for it. The rescue will continue to cover the costs of his heartworm treatment if he is adopted before treatment has been completed.
